From 1992 to 1996, Sarajevo, the capital city of Bosnia and Herzegovina, was under siege from the Army of Republika Srpska in what amounted to the longest sieges of modern warfare. Nearly 5,500 citizens were killed during this time, and a heavy blockade severely limited resources in the city.

Sarajevo's path towards healing has been a long and arduous process. In 2016, I traveled to the city as part of a personal research project to document the shadows of the war, and the juxtaposition of modern life with remnants of the past.
