Infrared Visions of Peru is an experiment in digital film emulsion simulation. Using an Aerochrome 18 film emulator, this project sought to highlight the intersection between the natural world and manmade elements at Machu Picchu (Peru), an archaeological site famous for its human innovation in an inaccessible location.

In the pre-digital era, infrared film allowed photographers to capture the entire spectrum of light, both visible and non-visible towards the red end of the spectrum. This film results in an ethereal image, one in which the greens present in a frame turn to bright pinks or deep reds. By color-shifting green foliage in this manner, the intersections between nature and manmade become dramatically emphasized.
